untitled poem

I stared bedazzled at the world
at its many faces
some were sweet and beautiful
they rang with songs and honeyed words
others were ugly and unseemly
like a snigger, a cancerous grin
that buried, incarcerated me
cut me down with praise and smiles
handshakes and congratulations.
And now I stand here nearly crying
my heart is empty like a glass
everyone has drunk his fill of.
I look into the abyss
into its snigger
its cancerous grin.
