Darkness

A kind of darkness is upon us
but who cares when all is gone
all morals, yardsticks and the faiths
that made our fathers do what they have done
to their own detriment and ours
in fear and trembling married to mad pride
battling for ethics and religions now long dead
leaving carcasses of gods and saviours by the roadside
starfish on the tide of history
sweeping onto beaches where the sand
is drenched in blood of countless people
once believing fate was in their hands
it's always been that way until we learn
the lesson in the riddle of our days
the question put to you by emptiness
that feeds upon the marrow of your ways.
