Just like you and you and you
I grew up in the sixties
and I was reeling at the turnstile
to see the girl with caleidoscope eyes
that turned me on and inside out
and I loved her and I followed
her into the gathering strangeness
of foreign lands and feelings
tho' it didn't always get better all the time
but constantly there was a sky
shock-a-block with diamonds
and the rain kept coming in
through the cracks in my reality
and now at the end of my days
I weigh and gauge all that happened
to decide that the best thing, the greatest
that fixed the hole in my soul
was the Beatles and indeed they changed the world
and stepping outside I was free
but even so I ended up
in the lonely hearts club band.
