The wedding

There was a terrific turnout
of people who threw roses
and it pleased the photographers
in their adoring poses
there were horses galore
waiting at the churchdoor
but will she make him a good wife ?
not too much of a bore
but a house-and-dog-and-a-four-kid wife

Food was plentiful for sure
and the cooks had the leftovers
the bride prayed and we smiled some more
talk of crimson and clover
there was liquor and coffee
everybody could see

First dance, the couple took the floor
there weren't a dry eye in the hall
expectant glances being shot at the door
'cause the jack-of-hearts was to call
and there was never a doubt
what it was all about
