A place in the sun

In this endless freezing rain
there is no one but a beggar
who tries time and time again
to change his outlook for the better

he's been starving on the quays
he's been hungry in the streets
he keeps weighing what he sees
against misfortunes that he meets

        Life is not a game
        'cause if it is you lose
        it's not all the same
        but who can choose
        a place in the sun
        a face full of fun ?

Time sure waits for someone
carving its lines around our mouths
and when we get out in the sun
we still don't know what it's about
